2012 Royal Wimbledon Open
We look forward to welcoming competitors to our Amateur Scratch Open Competition event this year being held on Saturday 23rd June. We are especially excited as this year’s tournament, which is a Surrey Order of Merit event, will be for the first time played on our newly designed 1st & 18th holes. Both holes have been remodelled by the architectural practice of Hawtrees Ltd to provide challenging opening and closing holes that are sympathetic to the original Harry Colt design.
The format is 36-hole stroke play with Bacon Rolls, hot beverage and Orange Juice to start off the day; light sandwich buffet lunch will be offered between rounds, and a hot buffet supper on completion, with possibly the best prize table of the Amateur calendar.
The field is limited to 66 competitors - handicap limit of 4 or below at the time of entry.
The Royal Wimbledon Open was first held in 2008 and won by Simon Crockett, of Addington Palace, with a 146 point total. He won it again, last year, with a 139 total.
